Professional Track Faculty- Instructor in Animal Sciences

The faculty of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a full time, professional-track position at the rank of Instructor to begin August 16, 2026. The position is a 9-month appointment with a 4:4 teaching load (or an equivalent of 12 credit hours of courses each academic semester) that centers around instruction in the field of Animal Sciences. This is an annual appointment that may be renewed contingent upon Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.

Candidates must hold a minimum of a master’s degree in biology or closely related field (or PhD candidates without a Master’s must be ABD) at the time of appointment. Strong organizational and communication skills are required.

The successful candidate will teach courses in the field of Animal Sciences (BIOL 351 Introduction to Animal Science, BIOL 351L Introduction to Animal Science Laboratory, BIOL 465 Domestic Animal Nutrition), and, on occasion, Introductory Biology courses (BIOL 101 Biological Principles I, and BIOL 102 Biological Principles II). The 4:4 teaching load is equivalent to teaching 12 credit hours of courses each semester. These 12 hours can be any combination of lectures as needed by the department.
