Start spring semester with extra credits!
When you complete a Winter Session course, your course credits will be added to your spring semester credits in my.sc.edu (Self Service).
Winter Session's first day of class for academic year 2025-2026 begins on December 29, 2025, and runs through January 18, 2026.
- If you complete a Winter Session course over winter break, you will see the credits you earned listed on and counted toward your spring 2026 semester credits.
- Winter Session courses and fees will apply to spring 2026 term hours and tuition.
Step 1: See your course options
Winter Session courses are added during fall semester as they become available.

Step 2: Register for Winter Session
Winter Session registration opens during fall semester - which is the same time as spring semester registration.
Registering for Winter Session:
- Log into your account on my.sc.edu.
- Choose the Student tab.
- Click on the Registration section.
- Select "Browse Classes."
- View Spring 2026 classes.
- Choose Advanced Search:
- Select the Columbia campus
- Select the course subject you're searching for
- Select 3WT (for the Columbia Winter Session Part of Term)
- Pick your class and click on "Add" to add it to your schedule and summary.
Winter Session registration is limited to 7 total course hours. - Click on Submit in the bottom right-hand corner to finalize your registration.

Request a Course Override
If you find the course you need is full, you may request a course override. Please understand that all requests must be reviewed and may not be granted.
