Carolina Alert: Due to City of Columbia making repairs to a water main break, the block of Greene St. between Lincoln St. and Park St. and the Greene St./Park St. intersection are closed to vehicle traffic. The repair time is unknown. Monitor sc.edu/carolinaalert for updates.

Carolina Alert: Campus weather update; USC campus to open at noon Thursday. Following the closure schedule of Richland County, the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus will remain closed until noon tomorrow (Thursday, Jan. 23). All employees should plan on reporting to campus at noon. Employees designated as essential personnel should check with their supervisor if they are unsure of their status or have circumstances that prevent them from working on campus prior to noon. Supervisors should exercise flexibility with employees who may have difficulties coming to campus. In-person classes scheduled to begin prior to noon on Thursday are cancelled, but those beginning after noon will continue as scheduled unless otherwise notified. Hybrid and asynchronous classes that meet online will meet as scheduled. USC will send updates if there are additional changes to the Columbia campus’ schedule. Please note: essential student services such as dining (https://sc.edu/experience/dining/index.php), the health center (https://sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/student-health-well-being/index.php), the Russell House (https://sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/russell_house/), and campus recreation facilities (https://sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/campus_recreation/) remain open with modified hours. Carolina Alert: Campus weather update; USC Columbia campus to remain closed Wednesday. Following the closure schedule of Richland County, the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 22. In-person classes scheduled for Wednesday are cancelled. Hybrid and asynchronous classes that meet online will meet as scheduled. Employees designated as essential personnel should check with their supervisor if they are unsure of their status or have circumstances that prevent them from coming to campus. Employees who can telecommute are expected to work remotely when campus is closed due to weather. Please note: essential student services such as dining (https://sc.edu/experience/dining/index.php), the health center (https://sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/student-health-well-being/index.php), the Russell House (https://sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/russell_house/), and campus recreation facilities (https://sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/campus_recreation/) will remain open during the closure. Carolina Alert: Weather Update; USC classes canceled after 2:30 p.m. Due to continued uncertainty about today’s weather forecast, all classes at the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus beginning after 2:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Jan. 21) are cancelled. State offices in Richland County, including the university, will remain open until otherwise instructed by the Office of the Governor. Supervisors should exercise flexibility with all employees who are not required to be on campus during weather events. The university will send a campus status update as soon as additional information becomes available. Carolina Alert: Campus to remain open tomorrow per Office of the Governor

Carolina Alert: An earlier message indicated the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus would close at noon tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan. 21), based on an earlier closure decision by Richland County government offices. Subsequent to Richland County’s decision, Gov. Henry McMaster instructed all state agencies within Richland and Lexington counites, including state colleges and universities, to remain open tomorrow until otherwise instructed by the Office of the Governor. This means employees will work normal hours tomorrow unless otherwise notified and classes will also resume as normally scheduled. Students should plan for attending all classes tomorrow unless otherwise notified. The university will send an update Tuesday as new weather information becomes available. As always, supervisors show flexibility for employees who may have scheduling difficulties.

Carolina Alert: Due to expected winter weather including snowfall on Tuesday, Jan. 21, the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus will close at noon on Tuesday and all classes beginning after 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday will be cancelled. Current forecasts call for some snow accumulation Tuesday that may freeze overnight into Wednesday, creating potentially hazardous road conditions. Decisions regarding the status of campus on Wednesday will be made and announced on Tuesday afternoon. As a state agency, USC campus closure decisions are based on those of Richland County government offices. Employees designated as essential personnel should check with their supervisor if they are unsure of their status or have circumstances that prevent them from working on campus. Employees with telework agreements are required to work from home unless the weather event prevents your ability to work due to childcare, power outages, etc. Please note: essential student services such as dining and the health center will remain open during the closure. Carolina Alert: Due to inclement weather, the Columbia campus will close Friday at 12 p.m. As a state agency, pursuant to the order of Governor McMaster, USC campus in Richland and Lexington Counties will be closed at noon today. All other campuses will follow the status of their counties. Employees designated as essential personnel should check with their supervisor if they are unsure of their status or have circumstances that prevent them from working on campus. Employees with telework agreements are required to work from home unless the weather event prevents your ability to work due to childcare, power outages, etc. All employees are urged to use caution traveling, as areas of the Midlands could experience sleet/frozen rain through early Saturday morning.
