Tools and Support for Your Research Journey

Benefits of Undergraduate Research

Participating in Undergraduate Research develops career competencies that prepare you for future success in graduate school or the work force.

Created With You In Mind

Our workshops are designed to help undergraduate researchers build the skills and confidence you need to thrive in academic and professional settings. By participating, you will gain valuable experiences that complement your research and support long-term growth.

Students Like You!

Representing student research in the sciences, engineering, cyber policy, sports management and the humanities, they embody Discovery for Every Discipline and  highlight the many opportunities and resources available through the Office of Undergraduate Research.

Research Registry

Help us capture the great work going on at USC with a count of undergraduate students engaged in research. Student researchers should register their work each semester.

Recognizing Exceptional Faculty Mentors

Faculty mentors play a key role in the research experience, aiding in the professional and personal growth of student researchers. This award gives students the opportunity to recognize their outstanding faculty research mentors.

Summer of Discovery

There are a range of summer research programs and supports available for undergraduate students

Academic Credit for Research

Conducting research for academic credit is a great way to learn how to do research specific to your field of interest and build relationships with faculty. There are a variety of opportunities, including research methods courses and independent studies.  Check with your Advisor or Faculty Mentor  about getting academic credit for your research.

Graduate With Research Distinction

Graduating with distinction (in your major or in leadership via the research pathway) recognizes the meaningful connections between learning within the classroom and discovery outside of the classroom.

Working with a Mentor

One of the benefits to research is building a strong relationship with your mentor. Clear expectations, open communication, and a passion for the research project are all ingredients of a solid working relationship.
