Community Garden

Have you noticed the four large planter boxes just inside the fence along Strickland St. on Salkehatchie’s East Campus?   They make up the newest edition to our campus and the initial phase of the USC Salk Campus Community Garden.  These raised garden beds are available for adoption to any group of students, staff, or faculty (or better yet, any combination of students, faculty, and staff) on a first come, first served basis.

The USC Salkehatchie Campus Community Garden is administered by a committee made up of faculty and staff.  Dr. Martha McKevlin is the coordinator of the garden committee.  The purpose of our campus community garden is threefold:

Health and Well-Being

By improving the diet of our community with fresh produce, the Community Garden promotes a healthier campus overall.

Strong Community

Our garden works to strengthen the relationship between students and the USC Salkehatchie family.

Education

The Community Garden offers unique, out-of-the-classroom learning experiences, such as community service projects and more.
