Carolina Autism and Neurodevelopment (CAN) Research Center

Led by Jane Roberts, representing the Department of Psychology, and Jeff Twiss, from the Department of Biological Sciences, this initiative strives to establish an interdisciplinary, cooperative hub for advancing basic, clinical, and intervention research, as well as education, focusing on autism and neurodevelopmental disorders at the University of South Carolina

Mission: The mission of the CAN Research Center is to improve the health and well-being of families and individuals with NDDs, including autism, intellectual disability, learning disorders, and genetic syndromes (e.g., fragile X, Down Syndrome).

There is a massive need at every level. Pretty much everybody I meet has either direct or indirect experience with somebody with autism. It affects us in all areas, from education to economics.
