Faculty positions 

Open-rank, tenure-track faculty position in the School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neuroscience with a focus on research in neurodevelopmental disorders. Research using clinical, neuropsychological, genetic, and brain imaging approaches or translational preclinical models is highly encouraged. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with faculty across the university, particularly within the Carolina Autism & Neurodevelopment (CAN) Research Center, and to contribute to the expansion of USC's Brain Health Center.

Peter and Bonnie McCausland Distinguished Chair in Neuroscience in the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences and requries an Ph.D. or M.D. The incoming Peter and Bonnie McCausland Distinguished Chair in Neuroscience will bring a research program focused in or closely complementing University strengths in areas of neurodegenerative disorders, stroke, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Anticipated start date August 2026 in the Department of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, or Psychology, depending on the candidate’s area of expertise.

Staff and trainee positions

Full-time Research Specialist Position in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders with lab director Dr. Jessica Klusek, Ph.D. CCC-SLP. The SC Family Study is seeking a Research Specialist to join our team on a longitudinal NIH-funded study focused on aging in mothers who carry a fragile X gene mutation. This is a full-time, 2-year position with full benefits, with the opportunity to extend beyond two years. 

  • Position Overview:
    • The Specialist’s primary responsibility will be to conduct clinical research assessments with study participants. Specialists will be trained in a range of research methodologies, including administration of clinical research assessments of cognition, language, motor function, mental health, and physiology. 
    • Work closely with families who have a child with fragile X syndrome, a genetic cause of intellectual disability and autism. 
    • The Specialist will be welcomed to our active research group and will work in collaboration with the study PI and our team of Research Specialists, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Ideal Candidate Profile:
    • Interest in gaining research or clinical experience related to aging, neurodegenerative disease, and persons living with neurodevelopmental conditions and their families.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
    • This position may be a good fit for candidates who are considering graduate school and would like to obtain additional experience relevant to the fields of Psychology, Speech-Pathology, Genetic Counseling, Social Work, or Gerontology.
