Academic Program Development
Academic program development consists of the creation and revision of degrees, majors, minors, undergraduate research tracks, academic certificates and concentrations. Learn about Academic Program Development processes.
Course Development
Course development consists of the creation of new courses and the revision or termination of existing courses.
ACAF 2.03 Creation and Revision of Academic Courses is the policy that outlines all course and syllabus requirements and is a wonderful resource when creating or revising a course.
Timelines and Bulletin Freeze Deadline
Because of the levels of approval required for certain program actions, it is important to be aware of deadlines for submission, as well as the timeline for approvals. Program actions that require approval by the Board of Trustees and Commission on Higher Education may take up to 1 year to obtain formal approval. View these deadlines.
Academic Bulletin
The Academic Bulletin is the official document of record for academic programs and regulations at the university. It’s always best practice to review your department’s information in the bulletin regularly. If you notice any errors, please contact Christy Stephens at herbc@mailbox.sc.edu. Both the Undergraduate and Graduate bulletins can be easily accessed online.
DegreeWorks
DegreeWorks is the University of South Carolina's degree audit system and is used by students and advisors as a means of monitoring a student’s progress towards graduation. Academic program requirements display in DegreeWorks as they are written in the Academic Bulletin. The College of Arts and Sciences collaborates with the Registrar’s office to ensure that DegreeWorks functions properly and efficiently for our undergraduate majors. If you notice errors in DegreeWorks, please contact Christy Stephens at herbc@mailbox.sc.edu.
