Matt Martin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, where he teaches courses in comparative constitutionalism and graduate research methods. He is also Associate Director of the Comparative Constitutions Project. His research examines constitution-making processes, focusing on the politics of public consultation — why drafters solicit citizen input, how they deploy it during deliberations, and what this reveals about elite competition in constitutional design. He received his PhD in Government from the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in public law and comparative politics. His work appears in Comparative Politics, the Journal of Law and Courts, Polity, Política, Social Science Computer Review, and PLOS ONE.
