Jennifer Mitchell, Associate Director of Music Admissions, helps to inform, recruit, and prepare prospective undergraduate and graduate students for the University of South Carolina School of Music.  Additionally, Jennifer serves as the School of Music’s Summer Programs Coordinator and Minor Compliancy Officer and is a member of the Inclusive Excellence Committee.

Though not originally from South Carolina, Jennifer considers the Carolinas home. In 2007, she completed her Bachelor of Music from Columbia College, and in 2017 completed a Master of Music degree from the University of South Carolina School of Music, both in vocal performance. While working towards her degree, Jennifer performed in Opera at USC’s productions of Musto's Later the Same Evening as Rose Segal and Offenbach's La Périchole in the title role. Other opera credits include Mother (Amahl and the Night Vistors), Fordiligi (Così fan tutte), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica) and Monica (The Medium).

As an active musician, Jennifer is very involved in the Columbia music scene.  She maintains a private voice studio and freelances as a soprano soloist for the greater Columbia area.  She holds a position as a Choral Scholar for Shandon Presbyterian Church’s Chancel Choir and sits on the Arts at Shandon Committee. Additionally, she is a key member of the Columbia Operatic Laboratory, a small nonprofit opera company, where she holds dual roles as co-vice president and finance manager.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
