Programs offered by the Office of Undergraduate Research
The OUR provides a variety of opportunities that are open to all students conducting research at USC during the summer.
- Summer Environmental Health and Safety Trainings and Sexual Harassment Prevention Training (required by NSF grants).
- 2027 Professional Development for All Student Researchers Summer Research Workshop Series
- The Summer Research Symposium will be held in late July.
- Summer Research at South Carolina Newsletter keeps students and faculty up to date on trainings, workshops, the Summer Research Symposium, and other opportunities to support a fun and productive summer. This weekly publication is available to all students and faculty; signups typically begin in May.

Complete this registration form if you are hosting a 2027 summer research program or supporting summer undergraduate researchers to stay updated on summer programming and events. The OUR will host a meeting of all summer PI and relevant campus offices at the beginning of the Spring semester.
Please complete this spreadsheet with information for all summer research program participants and send to Ashley at ashley.collins@sc.edu by April 15, 2027. This information will be used in:
- sharing with Student Health and Wellbeing for access to campus medica services
- creating the email list for the OUR Summer Research at South Carolina Newsletter
Connect with Other On-Campus Resources
Affiliate Status: Students visiting from other institutions will need to be in the HR system as affiliates in order to get a USCID, USC email address, and a Carolina card. To start this process, you must complete the USC Affiliate Information Form for each student. This task must be done before many other things can happen, so it is important to start this process as soon as you have your summer REU roster. Please note that there are complexities associated with admitting students under the age of 18 to your summer program.

Research Registry
USC undergraduate students who engage in research, scholarly or creative projects with a mentor or supervisor during the summer semester must register their projects in the OUR Research Registry.
