The challenges to effectively manage SHV are complex and systemic and require coordinated action across roles and units charged with addressing SHV, as well as a sense of shared accountability throughout the University community. This report has endeavored to establish a deeper understanding of these challenges and to identify ways the University can be more effective in creating a community that is safe and fair to all is members. To do so, we critically examined the offices, activities processes, policies and practices addressing SHV. Guided by principles of respect, accountability, and empowerment, the task force outlined recommendations involving each facet of the process of addressing Title IX violations. Although our findings point to several areas of concern, we acknowledge the investments the institution has made and the diligence of the many employees who strive to keep our community safe.
