Background

Dr. Fariba Fateh joined the University of South Carolina in Spring 2026 as a Research Associate Professor, where she teaches and conducts research on modeling and control of dynamic systems. Prior to this appointment, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kansas State University from 2016 to 2025.

Research Overview

Fateh’s research interests include system modeling, nonlinear and adaptive control schemes, and their applications in power and energy systems. Prior to joining the University of South Carolina, she served as a principal investigator or co–principal investigator on four multidisciplinary research projects funded by several governmental agencies.

Professional Service and Accolades 

Dr. Fateh is a Senior Member of IEEE (since 2019) and has served as a co-advisor of the KPEC (Kansas Power and Energy Conference) Student Branch (2020–2025). She has served as an Associate Editor for the Modeling, Estimation and Control Conference (2021–2024), the American Control Conference (2016–2024), and the Dynamic Systems and Control Conference (2016–2024). She has also served as a session and topic chair for IEEE conferences and as a journal reviewer.
