College of Social Work

Cook Receives Promotion

The USC Provost Office has announced the promotion of Lana Cook to Clinical Senior Lecturer at the College of Social Work.

Cook joined the college in 2018 and teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses with a significant focus on field education. During her tenure she has served as a field liaison to over 400 students, providing support in their field practicum agencies.

In addition to her instructional roles, Cook is the Director of Assessment and Compliance, leading competency-based education and assessment activities for Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards. She is also a leader for the college's reaffirmation team, contributing to the continuous improvement of college programs.

Cook led the college’s Wellness and Social Planning Committee from 2021 to 2024 along with serving as a USC Wellness Ambassador. An alumna of the Master of Social Work program, Cook is currently pursuing a doctorate in education, majoring in educational practice and innovation with a concentration in curriculum studies.

“Lana Cook’s promotion is well deserved and the college is proud to recognize her contributions and achievements,” said Dean Teri Browne. “Her leadership continues to inspire and enhance the College of Social Work community.”

Cook says she is deeply committed to fostering the growth and development of future social workers.

“Teaching at the University of South Carolia College of Social Work is a huge honor and joy, one that I am grateful for every day I step foot into the literal or virtual classroom. I am beyond excited to continue having an impact on the learning of our BSW and MSW students and feel privileged to have received this promotion in recognition of my teaching, service and scholarship.”
